Check out our virtual high school
Monroe Virtual Middle School has many course offerings. Courses are available from the University of Missouri, Brigham Young University, Stetson University and our own Independent Study Classes.

Virtual School teachers and the Virtual School guidance counselor are available year round to help you pick the course that is right for you.

Fifteen (15) credits are required to graduate from middle school and be promoted to high school. Students are expected to maintain five (5) credits per year for each grade for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Please see credit requirements below.

In addition to the credit requirements listed below, forty-five (45) hours of service learning is required to be promoted to high school. These 45 hours can be taken anytime during the three (3) years of middle school and count as 1/2 elective credit. Please see Independent Study courses for service learning requirements.

We have changed the Credit Requirements per grade. They are as follows:

Credit Requirements per Grade
6th Grade: Language Arts (1 credit), Math (1 credit), Social Studies (1 credit), Science (1 credit), Physical Education (0.5 credit), Art/Music/Health (0.5 credit). Total = 5 credits.

7th Grade: Language Arts (1 credit), Math (1 credit), Social Studies (1 credit), Science (1 credit), Physical Education (0.5 credit), Elective (0.5 credit). Total = 5 credits.

8th Grade: Language Arts (1 credit), Math (1 credit), Social Studies (1 credit), Science (1 credit), Physical Education (0.5 credit), Elective (0.5 credit). Total = 5 credits.

Although the Monroe Virtual Middle School only requires 5 credits to be earned each year, we strongly encourage students to take additional elective credits. Electives can include, but are not limited to: Art, Choral/Instrumental Music, Foreign Language. Students can also take a Health Elective in 7th or 8th Grade to meet the high school graduation requirement.
