Hello, my name is Cory Hirsbrunner and I am the principal at the Monroe Virtual School. I have been in this position since December of 2007, when we unexpectedly lost Dan Bauer, the inspiration behind the Monroe Virtual School. I am honored to follow in his footsteps as the principal of the Virtual School; I only hope I am able to provide everything he did for students and families of this school!

I am currently also serving as an elementary school principal at Northside Elementary School in Monroe. I feel honored to be able to have experience serving students in our district 4K-12th grade. I am continually impressed each day with all I am learning as the virtual school principal.

I have been with the Monroe School District since 1992. I was a kindergarten and 3rd grade teacher at Parkside Elementary School before coming principal at Northside School in 2000. I have served as 4K coordinator for the District, Summer School Director and now Virtual School Principal. I received my Bachelor's Degree from UW-Platteville, Master's Degree in reading from UW-Platteville, Administration Degree from UW-Madison, and recently a Doctor of Education degree from Edgewood College.

Virtual education to me is what 21st Century learning is all about. Students today need more opportunities and unique alternatives that are flexible and engaging. Monroe Virtual School offers access to expanded learning options that are diverse, enriching and rewarding that shape each student's highest potentials.

I have enjoyed the opportunity getting to know hundreds of families who have found the Monroe Virtual School an option that fits their distinctive needs.
